What you learn at McD’s
you can use elsewhere😊

Hi, I’ll show you that at McD’s you can start a career faster than you’d expect.
At McD’s I discovered what was inside me and moved on. Thanks to the experience from my employer, I still have doors open to me where I wouldn’t have dared to knock before.
I was goal-oriented as a child and at the age of 15 I looked for ways to earn money and become more independent. McD’s was the only one hiring at that age that did not require experience. In addition, combining it with school was no problem, thanks to the great freedom in planning shifts. And that’s how everything started.

When I started work on the crew, all I needed was an appetite for work and a responsible approach.

What skills have I obtained here?

  • responsibility and reliability
  • ability to organise my own time (work, school, fun)
  • ability to communicate with colleagues as well as with superiors
The restaurant where I worked was 10 minutes from home. I could come more frequently for short shifts. I learned very fast and after a couple of months I could start training new hires.

Combining my current job with learning didn’t cause any problems and I soon started to look for new opportunities...

What skills have I obtained here?

  • ability to hand over my knowledge and experience to others
  • I learned to communicate with subordinates
  • as an occasional stand-in I got a sniff of managerial work
Great assessments from all superiors helped me into my first managerial position - training manager. When I reached the position of area manager it occurred to me that McDonald’s may not be just an after-school job, and I started work part-time. At that time I was finishing secondary school. I learned managerial skills more and more and further promotions were natural. Now I am at university and my aim is to become the manager of a whole restaurant. That's why I help with other activities in the restaurant and continue to deepen my knowledge. I primarily work on communication with colleagues, because that is the most important thing at McD’s.

What skills have I obtained here?

  • responsibility for employee development – from an individual to competences across the restaurant
  • development of motivation and involvement of people
  • bearing a significant degree of responsibility (also for other people)
Let yourself be inspired by those that, the same as me, started their career in McDonald’s. They managed to successfully make use of the abilities they acquired here in their professional life also in other fields :)
