Gain Experience in McD’s

It will come in useful. Maybe even somewhere else :)

Hi, my name’s Dan and I’d like to show you how fast and easily you can build a career at McD’s.
I’m aware of the qualities that I want to obtain and develop thanks to McD’s. And I know that thanks to them doors have opened for work opportunities that would not have occurred to me before.
I was goal-oriented as a child and at the age of 15 I looked for ways to earn money and become more independent. McD’s was the only one hiring at that age that did not require experience. In addition, combining it with school was no problem, thanks to the great freedom in planning shifts. And that’s how everything started.

When I started work on the crew, all I needed was an appetite for work and a responsible approach.

What skills have I obtained here?

  • responsibility and reliability
  • ability to organise my own time (work, school, fun)
  • ability to communicate with colleagues as well as with superiors
The restaurant where I worked was 10 minutes from home. I could come more frequently for short shifts. I learned very fast and after a couple of months I could start training new hires.

Combining my current job with learning didn’t cause any problems and I soon started to look for new opportunities...

What skills have I obtained here?

  • ability to hand over my knowledge and experience to others
  • I learned to communicate with subordinates
  • as an occasional stand-in I got a sniff of managerial work
Great assessments from all superiors helped me into my first managerial position - training manager. When I reached the position of area manager it occurred to me that McDonald’s may not be just an after-school job, and I started work part-time. At that time I was finishing secondary school. I learned managerial skills more and more and further promotions were natural. Now I am at university and my aim is to become the manager of a whole restaurant. That's why I help with other activities in the restaurant and continue to deepen my knowledge. I primarily work on communication with colleagues, because that is the most important thing at McD’s.

What skills have I obtained here?

  • responsibility for employee development – from an individual to competences across the restaurant
  • development of motivation and involvement of people
  • bearing a significant degree of responsibility (also for other people)
Let yourself be inspired by those that, the same as me, started their career in McDonald’s. They managed to successfully make use of the abilities they acquired here in their professional life also in other fields :)

“I always solve problems with the whole team. Any idea or perception is welcome - just like it was back at McDonald’s.”

Even though Káťa has had a successful career in advertising, she’s never forgotten her beginnings. It all started one hot summer at McDonald’s and she remembers it like it was yesterday. It was there that she first learned the benefits of teamwork and organization.

Fun fact: The advertising agency where Káťa works today cooperates with McDonald’s. The circle has closed. :)

I start every morning with a good coffee, just like I have done since my beginnings in the kitchen.
The advertising business is mostly about close communication and cooperation with the client. In this area, I got great training at McDonald’s.
Here, you can see me in the studio, where we’re shooting visuals. Ever since my time at McDonald’s, I enjoy doing a variety of jobs.
Evening yoga. The most important work skill is to know how to relax.

“When, at the age of 17, I started assembling burgers at the Mostecka store, I would never have imagined that I would become the country manager The system at McDonald’s is set up to allow precisely something like that to happen.”

From a run-of-the-mill employee, he worked his way up to becoming director of one of the biggest real estate agencies in the Czech Republic. Besides his enthusiasm for work, he also loves sports and is very competitive.

“Morning meeting. That’s how we kick start the day, going all the way back to my days in the kitchen.”

Jaroslav knows McDonald’s and its procedures like the back of his hand. And so it should be. From his beginnings in the kitchen, he has gone through all levels of the organization and the experience he acquired he uses today when managing the processes in our restaurant operations.

Fun fact: Jaroslav loves futsal. :)

I like going back to the kitchen. I may be in a different role now, but the attention to detail remains.
I travel a lot for work. Being able to adapt to changes and improvise are key skills I learned at McDonald’s.
Back then, I was mainly running around the grill. Today you can see me running around the Hostivař dam, where I’m “clearing my head”. One has to know how to plan their relaxation too.
In a team, it’s not only about working together, but also playing together. :)

“The third day was the toughest, but fortunately there were people around, who, helped me overcome it. It has been twelve years, and now I'm the one helping the others. At McDonald’s there’s simply no obstacle that can’t be overcome.”

From working in the kitchen all the way up to the position of McCafé consultant for the Czech Republic. At McDonald’s, Lucka found an outlet for her innate empathy, and because she likes to work with people, she now trains McCafé baristas and guides them through their first steps.

Fanda is an out of control creative rocket full of energy. We don't understand where he gets the energy for everything he does, and he does a lot. At McDonald’s he learned to do several tasks at once, to be productive and to see the business from the customer's point of view. This has led him to planning the customer experience for diverse clients.

Fun fact: Fanda can shoot a concert using several GoPro cameras. Wow!

“I start the day in the editing room. McDonald’s taught me that knowing how to do just one thing is not enough.”
Then I go to a meeting with the client. My experience as a restaurant manager has taught me that I should always put the smile on my face first.
Flexibility is the key. That is why I’ve always got my ride ready. :)
I finish off the day by shooting a concert. At McDonald’s I learned to set my own work hours.
